i don’t think life was as bad as some governments made it out to be, but by the same token, i don’t think it was as grand as these pics made it out to be either. the ussr was very thorough in what media was allowed to leave the country. you can be sure that the photographer was only allowed in certain areas and his photographs were censored before he left.
