Dozens and dozens of men and not one female at a sight. There are dozens of single men in Banzhushan village, perched high on a remote mountain peak in central Hunan province – and not one unattached woman of marriageable age. The villagers are asking almost every day where to go and find a woman. Except old ladies, there are no other women there. The question is how will they get married? There are no women in other villages. They been there and looked, but there is no woman to be found.

What is the reason and where have all the women gone, it is not easy to answer. There are more things which leaded to this. Concretely in China you are all averred about “one child” policy. And in this country (as well in most of the countries around the world) a boy was always been more appreciated. Having a boy is a cultural and a pragmatic choice: you expect him to continue your lineage and support you in old age. The result has long been a surplus of men, because of female infanticide or excess female deaths through neglect. But in the last 20 years, the problem has exploded thanks to the spread of prenatal scans. Abortions even though they are illegal, it is more than obvious, they are present there. Other thing is that even though there are girls which are being born in those villages they chose to go from there in order to find some better life. Life in village is hard and poor. And as well as a big problem in villages which live like these ones is lack of education.

This is not only the case in Chine, there are many other villages like this one all over the world. But, in China the situation is really hard, for years now on 100 born girls it is born 129 boys, so over the years that number of 29 became a big problem. What can be the answer to this and how to correct the mistake made it is a good question. Over the years we have seen that human interaction in nature is bad, but we keep on doing it, when will we learn?
